Bloemfontein - Haldon Road at Kwaggafontein, Bloemfontein has been reopened for traffic. This after a serious collision this afternoon. ER24's André Visser says paramedics found a total of eight individuals in need of medical attention. Three occupants, a six year old boy, a three year old girl and a woman believed to be their mother, were ejected from the vehicle during the collision. The three year old girl was found approximately 25 meters away from where the initial impact occurred. The girl, boy and the woman all received treatment at the scene for suspected back, neck and chest injuries as well as suspected head injuries. The patients were then transported to a nearby medical facility for further treatment. An elderly man and woman, believed to be the grandparents of he children, were found still in the vehicle. The woman had a two year old girl with her at the time of the collision. The elderly man was entrapped in the vehicle and local fire and rescue services had to use specialised hydraulic rescue equipment to cut the vehicle in order to free the man. He then received treatment at the scene for suspected back and neck injuries as well as injuries to his head and chest. He was also transported to a nearby medical facility.
