Giovanni was born in Italy and had to face grim periods. As a cub he was abused as a ‘photo lion’ on the beach and later he was forced to perform in shows, where he lost his tail. He finally ended up in a centre in the Netherlands. When FOUR PAWS International took over the centre and it became FELIDA, we started intensive care to help Gio overcome his traumas. He arrived at LIONSROCK on the 16th of October 2015.

Nora  was born in a Swiss zoo but finally ended up, just like Gio, in the Netherlands. Shortly after our takeover of the centre, we brought her and her siblings to LIONSROCK. Here the three siblings showed how stubborn cats can be: Nora was attacked and later on expelled from the group. We moved her to the special care unit where she ended up being next to Gio, who immediately started showing signs of interest in the beautiful lioness. And there the love story continues: eventually, after living next to each other for a long time with a lot of positive interactions, they were socialized. Gio immediately was very protective over Nora and was, at the same time, both curious towards and scared of her tail – which was completely new to him. Nora was very confident and his awkward behaviour did not put her off at all. Today they live happily at LIONSROCK.
