#OFMKidsCorner - Kids in SA kick Corona together with the NICD | News Article

An 8 year old has inspired the team at the NICD (National Institute for Communicable Diseases) to put the spotlight on South African kids making a positive contribution during the pandemic.

I chat to the team at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases about the origin of their @kidskickcorona social movement. Ahmad Mazanderani a Pathologist in Clinical Virology and his colleague Siobhan Johnstone an Epidemiologist, both based at the NICD  share some lessons that kids in South Africa have taught them in this time and talk about the 8 year old that sparked the movement. Take a listen here.

The drawing that sparked the movement was submitted by brothers Morne and Eben, here is their plan to combat the Corona virus:

“We have a plan for the coronavirus problem. We can make a bomb from soap (the red hospital soap) and water, then throw it out of a fighter plane to kill the coronavirus. They can do it all over the world. I even drew a picture.”

To get your kids involved and help them share their stories, just look for @kidskickcorona on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and follow #kidskickcorona online.  Their platforms also house resources that makes the Covid-19 pandemic easier for kids to understand and also houses some fun activities to keep them busy during lockdown.
