#FamilyFocus: World Breastfeeding Week - It's time to normalise breastfeeding in SA | News Article

Why do people stare when a mom is breastfeeding her baby in a park, on a taxi, in the workplace or at a braai? According to Normalise Breastfeeding SA it is up to us to talk about it as often as possible to break the stigma.

Anel Olsson, is the founder of a campaign called “Normalise Breastfeeding South Africa”, which aims to address the stigmas surrounding breastfeeding. Based on the interactions her association has with mothers across South Africa, we still have much work when it comes to societal norms and prejudices towards breastfeeding in public and in the workplace.

This also involves the right to express milk for your precious baby wherever you are. Breastmilk remains the most important source of nutrition for a baby in the first 6 months of their life. Listen to my conversation with Anel Olsson below.
