Together with the team at Nal'ibali, we want children in central SA to read more. Sharing stories with children helps to develop the language and learning skills they need to do better in school, not just in reading and writing, but across all subjects. 

Also, sharing stories with children in their home languages is an easy and accessible way to turn them into life-long readers. It also helps to build the language foundation they need to understand new concepts at school and to learn a second language when they transition into English in Grade 4.

This week's story, 'Wat is beter as koek,' teaches and emphasizes the importance of kindness and sharing.
