Oscar trial: State did not prove pre-planned murder | News Article

Pretoria - The State has failed to prove that Oscar Pistorius committed premeditated murder.

Judge Thokozile Masipa said in the High Court in Pretoria that the evidence for premeditated murder was "purely circumstantial".

Judge Masipa said there were just not enough facts to support such a finding.

Pistorius, 27, is accused of murdering Reeva Steenkamp in his Pretoria house on Valentine's Day last year. He shot her through the locked door of his toilet, apparently thinking she was an intruder about to emerge and attack him.

She was hit in the hip, arm, and head.
