Massive drop in petrol price from midnight─── 07:26 Tue, 06 Jan 2015
Johannesburg - The price of petrol will decrease by between R1.23 and R1.27 a litre at midnight tonight, while a litre of diesel will drop by up to R1.05.
The energy department also announced that the price of illuminating paraffin will decrease by R1.44 per litre, while liquefied petroleum gas will go down by R2.10 a kilogram.
It said the weakening of the Rand/US dollar exchange rate contributed to an increase in the fuel price. This was however offset by the drop in international oil prices.
