New travel regulations worry IRR─── THANDI XABA 15:27 Fri, 22 May 2015

Johannesburg - More than 1.4 million jobs, or roughly 10 percent, of available jobs in the country during 2013 were in the tourism industry.
However with the new travel regulations to be enforced by the Department of Home Affairs within the next month, the tourism industry is expected to experience a low blow.
The Institute of Race Relations' Mienke Steytler says over the past three years the tourism industry has grown but the new law might hamper this.
The IRR further says the danger therefore is that the country’s policy makers are closing off another avenue of employment to poor and unskilled people, especially in rural areas where tourists might have travelled to.
