Arrive Alive campaign not dead, but it is copyrighted─── 05:26 Fri, 18 Dec 2015

Cape Town – The Road Traffic Management Corporation cannot use the Arrive Alive campaign anymore, as it has been registered as a brand.
RTMC spokesperson, Simon Zwane, told News24 on Thursday that, while a safety campaign was still running, it was no longer under the same name.
Zwane could not provide further details on how the Arrive Alive campaign had come to be copyrighted.
He said it was registered as a brand earlier this year, but could not say by whom.
Zwane said the festive season road safety campaigns had been up and running nationwide since November.
The department had replaced the Arrive Alive campaign with the 365 Days of Road Safety Programme, which would focus on creating awareness all year round.
Zwane said the road safety campaigns for the holiday season had started on November 26, except in the Western Cape, where it was launched on December 11.
On Tuesday, the Democratic Alliance lamented what they called the death of Arrive Alive.
DA transport spokesperson, Manny de Freitas, said there was no information on the new campaign.
"Our roads will be death-traps this year, and the RTMC – as an arm of National Government – will be to blame," he said.
"Cancelling the only national road safety campaign, whilst replacing it with nothing, is simply irresponsible."
