Eskom suspends Masilonyana cuts─── NOMAQHAWE MTEBELE 17:55 Thu, 08 Mar 2018
Electricity supply to the Masilonyana Local Municipality will recommence with immediate effect.
An agreement was reached between the Eskom and the municipality after residents of Brandfort, Theunissen, Winburg and Verkeerdevlei, among others, experienced electricity cuts.
Interruptions took place twice daily since 28 February 2018.
The municipality has an electricity debt of over R48 million.
Cuts began after a failure to honour prior payment arrangements.
Residents would have had to face fourteen-hour interruptions from 06:00 to 20:00 if agreements had not been reached by the third week.
Eskom had also began interruptions in the Tokologo Local Municipality while Nketoana Local Municipality would experience cuts if an agreement was not reached by next week.
