Multiple vehicle collision leaves six injured | News Article

Six people were left injured last night, three of them critically, following a four-vehicle collision on the N12, approximately 30km outside of Potchefstroom.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 18h20 to find another service assessing the patients.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered a man in his 50s and a girl, believed to be nine years old, lying trapped inside one of the light motor vehicles. A woman, believed to be in her 20s, was found lying trapped in a second vehicle.

Fire services had to use specialised rescue tools to free the trapped patients from the vehicles. Once freed, paramedics found that these three patients had sustained numerous injuries and were in a critical condition.

ER24 paramedics immediately treated the patients and provided them with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the young girl was airlifted to Baragwanath Provincial Hospital while the two other patients were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals.

Three other patients with minor to moderate injuries were treated and transported by other services to nearby hospitals.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
