Bloemfontein - The ram, Doring, of the Heuningkrans-stud of Eddie Prinsloo in the Smithfield district was crowned as the Merino Ram of the Year.
This was during the 23rd field show of the Merino Development Committee region three (MOK3) at the Bloem Show.
Some 300 registrations were received for the field show, which was more than the previous year.
Participants indicated that despite the effects of the drought conditions, which meant that their animals were unable to grow optimally on natural grazing, they still wanted to support the show.
It is the eighth year that the Heuningskrans-stud has delivered the best ram.
