More shops looted in Qwaqwa protests─── 11:47 Tue, 25 May 2021
More shops have been looted in what is called the biggest letdown of the disgruntled Makeneng residents in Qwaqwa, Free State, yet.
The residents decided to take their sorrow to the Sekoto Bridge, which connects Thabong and the Makeneng Village, where they barricaded the roads with stones and burning tyres.
The service delivery strike by the residents turned bitter as foreign shops have been looted.
According to police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele, the police are on the scene to control the angry residents.
The residents are not pleased about the various days they have been without electricity supply. They have mentioned that this is a life they live daily.
The mayor, Masetjhaba Mosia-Lakaje, has guaranteed the community that the municipality is working very hard to ensure that the electricity is restored. She said the municipality has deployed a contractor who's is currently working on the matter.
