NW Agriculture and Rural Development's CFO dismissed─── 11:54 Mon, 12 Jul 2021
The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) released a statement on Friday 9 July 2021, stating that the Chief Financial Officer Sophy Koikanyang’s employment has been terminated.
This comes after the disciplinary processes following the irregular awarding of a security tender and processing of a payment through a departmentally appointed implementation agent for the procurement of a building, which was never transferred to the department.
It is reported that the building was intended to store produce for farmers in the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality, in line with the marketing strategy, as it was on the outskirts of town and closer to the buyers.
According to the DARD, the decision came into effect on Monday 28 June 2021, following the outcome of the disciplinary processes. It is reported that prior to the conclusion of the disciplinary processes, Koikanyang was suspended last year and charged with gross misconduct, gross dishonesty, fraud and gross financial misconduct.
