Kimberley will host the final leg of the 2025 Kimberley Diamond Cup (KDC) Skateboarding Championship on 5 and 6 December.

This year’s finale boasts a total prize purse of R200,000, attracting top-tier talent from across the world. All athletes who qualified through the KDC Grand Slams earlier this year will now ascend to Kimberley to compete for top honours, ensuring a highly competitive and action-packed championship. Notably, international skaters from America, England, Thailand, Austria, Portugal, Thailand and African skaters from Lesotho, Mozambique, Madagascar, and Swaziland will participate in this year’s Championship, reaffirming KDC’s growing global footprint and appeal.

Adding to the excitement, a high-adrenaline FMX motocross show is planned to wow the crowd, bringing an extra layer of extreme-sport entertainment to the weekend spectacle. Prepare to be captivated as these world-class athletes take extreme sports to the next level, delivering jaw-dropping stunts and heart-pounding excitement. Don’t miss out on this incredible display of skill and adrenaline, it’s the highlight that will make this weekend truly spectacular!

As one of Africa’s leading skateboarding events, the KDC continues to position the Northern Cape as a destination for extreme sports, youth development, and sport tourism. The influx of professional skaters, coaches, families, and spectators is expected to stimulate Kimberley’s local economy, especially in hospitality, transport, retail, and tourism sectors.

MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Ms. Venus Blennies-Magage, highlighted the significance of hosting the Championships in the provincial capital.

“The KDC Championship remains a catalyst for youth empowerment, skills development, and economic activity. Bringing all Grand Slam qualifiers to Kimberley underscores our commitment to positioning the Northern Cape as an active player in the global extreme sports arena. We are excited to welcome athletes and visitors as we close this year’s series with pride,” she said.

The finale will feature high-energy skateboarding battles, entertainment, stalls, exhibitions, and community activities. Event organisers and provincial partners have assured the public of a safe, well-coordinated, and family-friendly environment.

The Northern Cape Provincial Government extends its gratitude to all partners, sponsors, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the 2025 KDC series. Together, we continue to build a province where young people thrive, and sport tourism flourishes.

Parking will not be available in front of the Kimberley Skate Plaza. Attendees are kindly requested to use the parking facilities at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre.
