Witbank. - Emerging Bok Rudi Vogt is back in the Puma team to meet the Border Bulldogs in the Currie Cup's First Division in Witbank on Friday night.
The Pumas have picked an experimental side, resting a number of their best players who did duty in their victory over the Elephants a fortnight ago. Pumas coach Jimmy Stonehouse made seven changes and a position switch to the team.
The biggest surprise is the omission of scrumhalf Jacques Coetzee, who will start on the bench to give his understudy Shaun Venter some game-time. The Witbank-based side will also field a new midfield combination with inside centre Jovan Botha being partnered by Emerging Bok flyhalf Vogt at outside centre.
John Noble junior, the son of the former WP League winger with the same name will also make his Currie Cup debut against the Bulldogs. He replaces former Zimbwean Gordon Pangetti. The lose-forwards, captain Corné Steenkamp, flanker Francois van Wyk and number eight Quinten Minnaar has been retained.
Former Puk and Tukkies props DJ Terblanche will also be blooded in the Currie Cup competition, as well as locks Wilhelm "Lip" de Jager and local boy Johann van Heerden. Tighthead prop Pieter van der Merwe and locks Nicol Knoetze and Willem Jacobs were also replaced. New acquisition, flyhalf Tiaan Marx, has once again been entrusted with the flyhalf duties. Jiffy Lamprecht moves from outside centre to fullback.
