The Varsity Cup is set to resume on Monday evening after the last two rounds of the popular tournament had been postponed due to unrest and protests on University campuses across the country.

The executive management of the Varsity Cup met in in Cape Town yesterday to discuss the way forward or even the possible cancellation of the tournament.

OFM Sport was reliably informed that there is no way the matches will be played at the various campuses due to security concerns.

A suggestion by Maties coach, Hawies Fourie, that the fixtures should be played as Super Rugby curtain-raisers was also dismissed due to the advertising rights of the Varsity Cups' various sponsors.

At this stage all two matches with be played at the Cape Town Stadium, while two will be played at the FNB Stadium Stadium in Johannesburg.

It has been confirmed as well that none of the matches will allow spectators to attend.

On the 28 March, the situation will be re-evaluated and a decision will be made on where the semi-finals and final will be hosted.

The Varsity Cup will be making an official announcement at 13:00 on Thursday afternoon.

14 March 2016 - UFS Shimlas vs CUT Ixias - FNB Stadium
21 March 2016 - UFS Shimlas vs UJ - FNB Stadium
25 March 2016 - UFS Shimlas vs NWU Pukke - FNB Stadium
28 March 2016 - UFS Shimlas vs US Maties - FNB Stadium
