It’s back to the salt mines for the Toyota Cheetahs as the attention reverts back to the Super Rugby.

The Cheetahs reported for training Monday ahead of their clash against the Stormers on Saturday in Bloemfontein.

The winger Raymond Rhule and flanker Oupa Mohoje return from international duty with the Springboks, while the captain Francois Venter, flyhalf Fred Zeilinga, prop Ox Nche and flank Uzair Cassiem represented South Africa ‘A’.

The coach Franco Smith was also back after doing duty as one of Allister Coetzee’s assistants during the 3-0 Test victory over France.

The Cheetahs did start training on Thursday already, however, needless to say it was not a full strength squad.

The team was boosted this morning when they welcomed the Springbok Sevens trio of Rosko Specman, Cecil Afrika, and Chris Dry.

The defensive coach and analyst Charl Strydom told OFM Sport that the three Blitzboks will bring something to the party.

“It’s a smaller group that they (Blitzboks) have and I think they are much closer in the environment that they have there and they come with that winning mentality.

“That’s something that we obviously want to build over here.

“We had that in the Currie Cup and in our last game against the Sunwolves there was a bit of lift before the break.

“Maybe the belief which we lacked throughout the Super Rugby season is back.”

At this stage it is unknown whether or not the trio will be available for selection for the Cheetahs' two remaining Super Rugby matches.

Saturday afternoon’s clash between the Cheetahs and the Stormers at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 15:05.
