The Springboks have started focusing on their final two Tests of the 2025 Rugby Championship, facing Argentina’s Pumas in back-to-back games in Durban and London.

The Boks have assembled in Durban in high spirits following their 43-10 thrashing of the All Blacks in Wellington last week. They believe their title defence is well within reach.

Sitting second on the log, the back-to-back World Champions are in a strong position with two Tests remaining, and now, more than ever, flawless performances will be crucial.

After a few days at home with their families, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus said there is renewed energy in the camp as the team gets back to business.

“It’s great to be back in camp and to see the excitement and enthusiasm among the players. We’re keen to get back into the swing of things after a few days off to recover from the trip back from New Zealand.

“We have two massive encounters ahead against a psyched-up Argentine team, who, just like every other side in the competition, believe they can win the trophy. The extra two days of training were vital for us.”

“The players are fresh and charged up for the challenge ahead, and that excites us because we’re going to give everything to build on our last result and give ourselves the best possible chance to win the title.”

Erasmus said although the team flew out of New Zealand on a high, their performance was far from perfect. The key now will be to show improvement against the Pumas.

“The players jumped straight back into action. Our focus on Friday and Saturday is to work on areas of our game that need improvement after reviewing the last match against the All Blacks, as well as our fundamentals, which will be critical against a well-rounded Pumas outfit.”

“They have a powerful pack and classy playmakers in their backline, so we need to be sharp in training and ensure we’re ready mentally and physically when we step onto the field next week.

“This match is significant in many ways. It’s not only essential to get a good result to stay in the running to defend our title, but it’s also our last home game of the year, and we want to thank our fans for their passionate support throughout the season.

“We know it will take a top-class performance to achieve our goal in this match, but we will leave no stone unturned in trying to do so.”

Saturday’s Test between the Boks and Los Pumas at Kings Park in Durban kicks off at 17:10.
