Bulls and Stormers travel abroad for URC semi-finals─── ILSE SMALBERGER 10:33 Sun, 31 May 2026
The Stormers and Bulls are both through to the United Rugby Championship semi-final after victories over Cardiff and Munster respectively.
The Bulls dominated Munster at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday (30/5), trashing the Irish side 45-14 after leading 31-14 at halftime. Johan Ackermann’s men scored six tries – scrumhalf Embrose Papier scored twice, with Kurt-Lee Arendse, Johan Grobbelaar, Cameron Hanekom, and Stravino Jacobs also crossing.
They will travel to Glasgow to play the Warriors in Murrayfield next week.
The Bulls last played Glasgow in the Champions Cup quarterfinals, suffering a 25-21 defeat at Scotstoun. Franco Smith’s table-topping Warriors beat Connacht 33-21 on Friday night (20/5).

In Cape Town, the Stormers beat Cardiff by 44-21, having led 21-7 at halftime. The hosts scored Tries from hooker Andre-Hugo Venter, prop Ntuthuko Mchunu, wing Leolin Zas, flanker Paul de Villiers, replacement JJ Kotze, and fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who finished with eleven points, set up the quarter-final success.
Their victory comes at a price. Feinberg-Mngomezulu left the field in the second half with an injury that will probably keep him out of the semifinal. Former Blitzbok wing Seabelo Senatla also left the field due to a concussion and will definitely not play next week.
‘Irish side bounced back’
John Dobson’s men will travel to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin next week to face Leinster in the other semifinal. The Irish side bounced back from the Champions Cup final defeat by Bordeaux-Begles last week by thrashing the Lions 59-10 in their quarterfinal match.
Dan Sheehan, Hugo Keenan, James Ryan, Scott Penny, Sam Prendergast, Gus McCarthy, and Jimmy O’Brien all crossed for the Irish province, with James Lowe, on his 100th cap, scoring twice.
Both semifinals will take place on Saturday (6/6). Semifinal 1 will take place in Edinburgh at 15:30 (SA time) between the Glasgow Warriors and the Vodacom Bulls at Murrayfield.
Semifinal 2 will take place at 18:30 between defending champions Leinster and Stormers in Dublin at Aviva Stadium.
