All eyes set on #SONA2019 as the countdown begins─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 16:09 Thu, 07 Feb 2019
With just a few hours to go until President Cyril Ramaphosa delivers his State of the Nation Address, some members of parliament are already making their way inside the house.
Opposition parties, economists, political parties and the rest of the country have made their expectations clear and outlined questions they expect Ramaphosa to address during his speech. The EFF has, thus far, threatened to disrupt the SONA, should Ramaphosa fail to address questions regarding the Bosasa scandals and not act against ANC members implicated in corruption as revealed at the state capture commission of inquiry. The DA, on the other hand, has vowed to refrain from any disruptions, but remain resolute that Ramaphosa should speak to questions relating to corruption, the poor state of State Owned Enterprises (SOE)s, unemployment, and a lack of economic growth in the country.
Proceedings in parliament are expected to officially kick off at 6pm and President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to take centre stage at 7pm.
