Refrain from using social media for internal affairs - Magashule─── 09:24 Sun, 02 Jun 2019
ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule has pleaded with party members to refrain from using social media to air party internal affairs that will cause division within its ranks.
Magashule was speaking at the three day Lekgotla meeting in Irene, Pretoria, on Saturday.
His statement comes after Ekurhuleni Metro Mayor Mzwandile Masina launched an attack on President Cyril Ramaphosa following the appointment of Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan last week.
Magashule said it was important that ANC leaders understand that they need to suppress their personal opinions in favour of the party line.
He says they ANC NEC should discuss the matter about members who are tweeting , and will continue to engage members who often run to social media with internal affairs of the party.
Magashule says improper behaviour on social media needs to stop and urged them to respect the leadership.
He added that party members should follow proper channels to voice their dissatisfaction; not to run to social media.
Magashule said the main aim of the Lekgotla is to analyse how the ANC fared in the recently-held general elections.
The ANC emerged victorious in the May 8 elections, but with a weakened majority on the national ballot, scoring only 57.51 percent of the vote, down from 62.15 percent in 2014.
