Vaal residents not impressed─── 17:01 Fri, 19 Jul 2019
Some Vaal residents were not impressed by the activities of the 67 minutes of Mandela Day initiated by the Gauteng government in different parts of the Vaal yesterday.
The Gauteng provincial government, together with the Emfuleni Local Municipality, conducted activities such as harvesting vegetables and patching potholes in various communities.
However, some residents maintained that the Vaal remains marginalised, claiming the provincial government only focuses on the neighbouring township Soweto.
Responding to this claim, Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Jacob Mamabolo, told OFM News that, following the mandate of the Gauteng Premier David Makhura, the Vaal is a priority area and will receive special attention and that potholes will be patched until next week Wednesday.
