The seven learners will be laid to rest in a mass funeral service while an eighth learner who died days later at the Mahikeng Provincial Hospital will be buried tomorrow.

At the beginning of this week the country woke up to news that at least seven schoolboys had died when their driver lost control and hit a tree at Driefontein outside Zeerust while travelling from Borakalalo Village to Rietpan Village.

The accident sent shockwaves around the country, with the North West Education MEC Mmaphefo Matsemela stating that it is devastating that the accident happened at a very crucial time when learners were preparing to write their year-end examinations.

The learners  attended school at Ratsela Middle school and Letlhakane Primary school in Rietpan Village.

The office of Premier Job Mokgoro, including various departments, once again sent their condolences to the bereaved families.
