Seven other learners were laid to rest in a mass funeral service yesterday. The learners were involved in an accident last weekend on their way from a soccer match when the driver of the vehicle they were travelling in lost control and hit a tree at Driefontein outside Zeerust while on their way from Borakalalo Village to Rietpan Village.

The eighth learner died days after the crash at the Mahikeng Provincial hospital. The accident has since sent shockwaves around the country - with the North West Premier Job Mokgoro stating that the province lost future leaders and great soccer stars.
