Emergency services spokesperson Eric Maloka said a gas pipeline was on fire.

"The fire is under control, the firefighters are now putting on the foam to cover the fire.

"The primary and the secondary fire where the fire originally started is under control and we have the secondary fire where there is still big smoke," said Maloka.

He said firefighters managed to evacuate people on time and there are no injuries or fatalities which have been reported.

"There are no injuries or fatalities and there was no explosion, it is just burning," added Maloka.

The cause of the fire is not known.
