No load-shedding expected today: Eskom─── 05:52 Tue, 17 Mar 2020
South African power utility Eskom on Monday said that no load-shedding was expected on Tuesday, adding that the power generation system remained constrained and vulnerable.
"During the peak hours we are utilising emergency generation reserves to supplement supply. The possibility that load-shedding may be implemented at short notice remains high, should the system performance deteriorate," Eskom said in a statement.
"Unplanned breakdowns or outages were at 11,337MW as at 5.20pm this afternoon and planned maintenance outages are at 4,966MW. It is only through a partnership between Eskom and all stakeholders that we may soon emerge from these difficult times. We urge every South African to co-operate in managing electricity consumption with care to help us minimise load-shedding. We thank you for your co-operation and understanding so far."
Eskom requested that customers continue using electricity sparingly and to assist them in reducing demand.
