The Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, and the minister of tourism, Mamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, are urging the public to abide by the regulations put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

This follows Cele’s announcement that the sale of liquor will only be allowed between 9:00 and 18:00 from Mondays to Saturdays and 9:00 to 13:00 on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Cele says taverns must close at 18:00 while restaurants can operate until later, however, they must only serve food after 18:00. He adds that people on the premises must be limited to 50 or less, including staff.

Cele says if a gathering is seen to be exceeding the number, the police will order the immediate dispersal of the gathering and take appropriate action against the host.

Meanwhile, President Ramaphosa will address the nation today in a message that will be broadcast on radio and television, and livestreamed online, a statement issued by the presidency has said. A time has not yet been given.
