SANDF mum on army deployment─── 12:43 Mon, 23 Mar 2020
The SANDF says it cannot confirm or deny reports that the army will be deployed to help curb the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
It says President Cyril Ramaphosa will comment on the matter.
This comes after media reports suggested that the army would be deployed from Wednesday.
One Sunday newspaper reported that leave for all SANDF members has been cancelled.
It further added that soldiers have been told to prepare for short-term deployment.
Several measures like travel bans and prohibition of meetings of over a hundred people have been implemented.
