New safety app to help during #Covid19 emergencies─── MARVIN NTSANE 17:07 Mon, 30 Mar 2020
A global security service, 911 Response24, has created an innovative app, the Medical Support SA button, which can be downloaded for free to assist with emergencies in South Africa during the Covid-19 crisis.
The app assists people with information and resources concerning Covid19, and links users to emergency services using their smartphones.
The founder of 911 Response24, Marlize Holtzhausen, says she wants to help South Africans through the current crisis caused by the coronavirus disease. Partnering with local industry giants, including Bidvest, Protea Coin, and emergency medical response provider ER24, has given 911 Response24 the power to make a serious difference in the lives of more South Africans.
In case of an emergency, your location is tracked and shared with first responders, including ER24, to remove communication barriers for faster response times. Direct integration into call centres means your closest hospital or emergency response station is immediately identified. You don’t need to know the numbers or location of your nearest police station or hospital.
Holtzhausen says that the purpose of this app is to give the public a way of finding the relevant support they need, without clogging up the overstretched helplines and emergency services.
She further says this app links users directly to the company’s centralised National Operations Centre (NOC) where agents are working to assist in qualifying and directing callers to the correct Covid-19 facilities or sources of information.
"Every life matters and we hope to make a life-saving difference,” she says.
