SA celebrate 26 years of freedom during #Covid19 lockdown─── MARVIN NTSANE 10:45 Mon, 27 Apr 2020
South Africa, who is entering week five of lockdown, is celebrating 26 years of freedom today.
This as the country's first democratic elections took place on 27 April 1994.
The spokesperson of the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Zimasa Velaphi, says in commemoration of this, President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to live stream his address regarding freedom day.
She says this year's theme is 'Solidarity and triumph of the human spirit in these challenging times.'
Velaphi further encourages South Africans to reflect and be responsible while staying safe during the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, Ramaphosa announced last week that the country will move to lockdown level 4 from Friday, 1 May 2020. The aim is to increase the country's economic activities.
