NW man expected in court for animal skins, drugs─── 08:28 Mon, 04 May 2020
A 23-year-old man is expected to appear in the Hartbeesfontein Magistrate's Court in North West today for possession of illicit animal skins and drugs.
Hawks provincial spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, says a search was conducted at the suspect's residence in Tigane near Hartbeesfontein on Friday.
She adds police found three lion skins, dagga and other drugs. She says the suspect was arrested and all items were seized for further investigation.
OFM News earlier reported that eight lions were found dead at a lodge in Swartruggens this year.
It is believed these animals are being killed to concoct muti.
