The Department of Health in the Free State confirms it has recorded two new Covid-19 cases in Zamdela, Sasolburg.
This brings the total number of active coronavirus cases to 26 as 102 recoveries and six deaths were recorded since the outbreak of the virus in the province.
Provincial health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, says an 81-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman tested positive after a 33-year-old man from Palm Springs in Gauteng visited his parents' home in Zamdela.
Mvambi confirms while the 33-year-old man is now in quarantine with his wife and two children in Gauteng, his mother and grandfather are admitted at Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein due to their age and as a precautionary step by the provincial department.
Mvambi explains the 33-year-old man visited a General Practitioner whilst in Sasolburg for consultation and to test for Covid-19.
"We know that this news have sent panic waves to the community of Metsimaholo in general, and Sasolburg in particular. The Free State Department of Health would like to take this opportunity to assure the residents of this town that there is no need for panic as the situation is under control."
He urged all members of society to stay informed about how Covid-19 is transmitted and to observe lockdown level 4 regulations.
"We encourage members of the public to observe a social distance of 1m to 2m between one another. Wear a cloth mask every time you go out of your house to public spaces, wash your hands regularly with soap and clean running water, cover your cough and sneeze with your elbow or use a tissue that must be safely disposed of in a closed bin, said Mvambi.
Meanwhile, Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize, has in his latest statement confirmed only one new Covid-19 case in the province.
