Zulu launch #Covid19 social relief grant─── 12:00 Sun, 10 May 2020
The social development portfolio says the Covid-19 social relief grant is ready for implementation.
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the R350 grant for the unemployed and those who are not receiving a grant from the state as part of the government's expanded social relief efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu is expected to launch the application process on Monday.
In a statement, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) says it has been inundated with enquiries since the announcement of the grant.
‘Sassa had to ensure that it puts all the required controls in place to ensure that the grant is only accessed by deserving and qualifying individuals.”
