Calls for government to double relief fund─── 18:00 Mon, 18 May 2020
Cosatu wants the government to double the COVID-19 relief fund aid.
Its General Secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali denies reports that the matter was deliberated at the Nedlac meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa.
He spoke during an interview with eNCA's Xoli Mngambi on Monday.
Ntshalintshali said, "in relations to the new budget coming we are hoping that the minister of finance together with the president will be able to inject more stimulus to the economy.
"The president confirmed that they are doing all they can to put more injection but there was no confirmation whether they will inject R1-trillion that you are referring to."
Ntshalintshali said they support safely opening the economy and says there needs to be a balance struck between economic activity and worker safety.
