In a bid to eliminate the exploitation of the COVID-19 temporary employee relief scheme, the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) has introduced stringent controls to verify banking details.
UIF Commissioner Teboho Maruping says a failure to populate the system properly, will lead to more delays in the payment process.
"People were able to infiltrate the details of the companies. We've engaged our banking partners so the account details are confirmed at a company level."
The commissioner called on companies to verify their details, saying once they have been verified the payments can be carried out more efficiently.
