The Health Department has announced that 2,369 interns will join the health workforce.
The country will soon receive 650 graduates from the Nelson Mandela Fidel Castro Cuba medical programme.
The interns will be deployed to hospitals across the country.
In April, over 200 Cuban healthcare workers landed in South Africa to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
The team -- made up of doctors and specialists -- was deployed across the country.
