#CoronavirusSA: Four more airports to reopen─── 06:40 Wed, 26 Aug 2020
Four more airports have been reopened under lockdown level two restrictions.
In March, South African airports were shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic as hard lockdown regulations were enforced.
As lockdown laws were eased, several airports were then reopened as limited domestic air travel for business purposes was permitted under alert level three of the lockdown from June.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has now announced that in addition to the 14 airports already permitted to operate, four more airports have now been given the green light to resume operations under level two of the lockdown.
These airports are the Mthatha Airport in the Eastern Cape, Hoedspruit Airport in Limpopo, Phalaborwa Airport in Limpopo, and Margate Airport in KwaZulu-Natal.
International air travel remains prohibited under lockdown level two.
