Case data for the provinces shows that Gauteng has 211,678157 (or 33.4 percent) confirmed Covid-19 cases, while KwaZulu-Natal has 114,034 cases (18 percent) and Western Cape has 106,582 cases (16.8 percent).

Eastern Cape has 86,489 confirmed cases (13.7 percent), with the Free State at 38,869 (6.1 percent).

In other provinces, Limpopo has 13,488 cases (2.1 percent); Mpumalanga has 24,746 cases (3.9 percent); North West has 25,816 cases (4.1 percent), and Northern Cape has 11,313 cases (1.8 percent).

The total number of tests conducted to date is 3,747,101 with 20,380 new tests conducted since the last report.

The private sector conducted 2,125,323 (57 percent) of tests and the public sector conducted 1,621,778 or 43 percent of tests.

“Regrettably, we report 174 more Covid-19 related deaths: 39 from KwaZulu-Natal, 50 from Gauteng, 24 from Eastern Cape, 8 from Free State, 17 from Western Cape, 9 from North West and 27 from Mpumalanga. This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 14,563.

"We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers that treated the deceased patients.

"Our recoveries now stand at 554,887 which translates to a recovery rate of 88 percent,” the minister said.

Eastern Cape has recorded 2,956 deaths, it has 82,233 recoveries and 1,300 active cases; Free State has 739 deaths with 26,056 recoveries and 12,074 active cases; Gauteng has 3,730 deaths with 184,538 recoveries and 23,410 active cases; KwaZulu-Natal has 2,203 deaths with 100,766 recoveries and 11,065 active cases; Limpopo has 202 deaths with 12,647 recoveries and 639 active cases; Mpumalanga has 378 deaths with 23,046 recoveries and 1,322 active cases; North West has 275 deaths with 20,028  recoveries and 5,513 active cases; Northern Cape has 134 deaths with 7,526 recoveries and 3,653 active cases; and Western Cape has 3,946 deaths with 98,047 recoveries and 4,589 active cases.

The total number of active cases in the country is 63,565.
