#CoronavirusSA: Nehawu threatens to down tools─── 07:11 Fri, 04 Sep 2020
Healthcare workers union, Nehawu, is threatening a nationwide strike next week if more mechanisms are not put in place to protect workers.
Nehawu says its members have been exposed to poor working conditions and low-quality PPE.
"Our members are caught between a rock and a hard place, when they complain they are dismissed and when they comply they die," said Nehawu General Secretary, Zola Saphetha.
The union has given the government a list of fifteen demands.
"We are demanding that the government must comply fully with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, that Act is existing to protect our lives at the workplace."
