Angelo Agrizzi's bail application has been dismissed.
The former Bosasa executive appeared in court on fraud and corruption charges, for allegedly bribing influential people, including former ANC MP Vincent Smith.
The court ruled that Agrizzi's foreign assets make him a flight risk.
Smith's bail has been extended to 3 December.
He faces charges of fraud and corruption, relating to two payments made to his company Euro Blitz 48, by Bosasa.
