Cope calls for more corruption arrests─── LEATILE LEIEE 11:09 Sat, 31 Oct 2020
The Congress of the People (Cope) national spokesperson, Dennis Bloem, calls for more arrests of corrupt government officials amidst recent scandals.
Bloem says they acknowledge the latest judgment by the Johannesburg High Court to overrule the decision to deny former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi bail.
The Bosasa scandal has over the past year linked heavyweight government officials to accepting bribes, amongst other corrupt dealings.
Bloem pleads with the Hawks to continue with the recent arrests and send a warning that no person is above the law.
The most recent arrest was that of the seven suspects - including former Free State MEC and ousted mayor Olly Mlamleli – regarding the R255 million Free State asbestos removal tender.
‘’Agrizzi is a very important and crucial whistle blower in the Bosasa corruption. We want to hear and know the truth, about the grand looting of millions of taxpayers’ money,’’ Bloem says.
Bloem concluded that his party is calling on the Hawks and NPA “to arrest and prosecute all those that were implicated by Agrizzi in the Bosasa scandal’’.
