#Covid19: AG to brief media on funds─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:52 Wed, 09 Dec 2020
Covid-19 funds and how they have been spent by government departments and municipalities will come under scrutiny on Wednesday.
This, as the newly appointed Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke is expected to release findings of the second Covid-19 relief funds audit.
Maluleke's appointment as the Auditor-General of South Africa was announced last month by President Cyril Ramaphosa following the recent death of Kimi Makwetu. She is expected to head the chapter nine institution for the next seven years.
OFM News recently reported on how the office of the auditor-general revealed mismanagement of the UIF’s Covid-19 unemployment payouts, as well as Covid-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across different government spheres in the different provinces, including the Free State.
Like her predecessor, Maluleke is expected to be an unrelenting fighter for good governance, a fighter against state capture, rampant corruption and financial mismanagement across the public sector.
Maluleke is expected to give an update on the Covid-19 relief funds audits on Wednesday at 11:00.
