SA Health capacity lacking: DA─── 06:06 Tue, 15 Dec 2020
The DA says President Cyril Ramahosa’s announcement last night highlighted that the country’s health capacity is still nowhere near as strong and developed as it should be to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
This, despite what was promised 9 months ago. DA leader, John Steenhuisen, says furthermore, the crucial plan to obtain a vaccine for South Africa has yet to be rolled out.
Cabinet has decided that further restrictions will be imposed from midnight on Monday. The hours of the national curfew will be extended from 11pm to 4am.
Non-essential establishments, including restaurants and bars, will be required to close at 10pm.
The sale of alcohol from retail outlets will only be permitted between 10am and 6pm from Monday to Thursday.
He says they’re also opposed to the closure of certain beaches and public parks across the country.
Steenhuisen says this goes against the scientific advice and recommendations from medical experts such as SA Medical Association chairperson, Dr Angelique Coetzee and epidemiologist, Professor Salim Abdool Karim.
