National Police Commissioner tests positive for #COVID-19─── 07:31 Wed, 16 Dec 2020
National Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole is in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
Sindile Mfazi has been appointed acting commissioner in the meantime.
Sitole was tested on Monday afternoon after coming into contact with another officer who'd tested positive.
He isn't showing any signs or symptoms of the virus.
All of Sitole's close contacts have also gone into quarantine.
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced new restrictions on Monday as coronavirus infections continue to spiral.
