#Covid19: Provinces' healthcare services under scrutiny─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:34 Thu, 07 Jan 2021
The state of healthcare services in the different provinces will come under scrutiny when Health Minister Zweli Mkhize briefs the Portfolio Committee on Health on the rollout strategy of the Covid-19 vaccine and status of services in the provinces.
Mkhize's briefing on Thursday will come just a day after it has been confirmed that another 844 people have died in the country after contracting Covid-19, pushing the national death toll to 31 368. The country has also racked up a new high record number of infections with 21 832 new cases.
In response to written questions in parliament, he has previously confirmed that almost 340 state healthcare workers died of Covid-19 related illnesses in the country between March and November 2020.
Mkhize is expected to outline how the vaccine will be rolled out amongst healthcare workers in the different provinces and members of the public amidst growing daily infections.
