Majority in SA willing to take #Covid19 vaccine─── 18:00 Wed, 27 Jan 2021
A survey conducted by the University of Johannesburg, with the Human Sciences Research Council, found that 67% of respondents were willing to take the Covid-19 vaccine; 18% would not vaccinate; and 15% weren't sure if they would.
The survey was completed online by 10 618 participants and is broadly representative of the population at large.
In addition, it demonstrated that vaccine acceptance is influenced by education, political affiliations, and race.
According to the report, 78% of those who intended to vote ANC were willing to take the vaccine. This was in contrast to 65% of DA and 62% of EFF supporters respectively.
The survey suggested that 72% of adults with less than a matric-level education would be willing to take the vaccination, whereas only 59% of those with a tertiary education would accept the vaccine.
The main issues for respondents with a tertiary qualification were potential side effects and fast turnaround time.
