#Mkhwebane to release investigative reports─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 07:21 Wed, 30 Jun 2021
All eyes will be on the Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane and her new deputy, Kholeka Gcaleka, on Wednesday.
This, as they are expected to release several investigation reports during a virtual media briefing session. The reports are expected to lay bare corruption and injustice in government departments and municipalities across the country.
They are expected to also outline remedial actions to be taken. Whilst the Public Protector's office does not indicate which reports will be released or which provinces will be in the spotlight, the last time when Mkhwebane released reports in late 2020 the Free State and its failed Vrede Dairy Project garnered heavy criticism.
Her investigative report confirmed political interference in the project and fingered the former Premier and now suspended ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule as amongst those who interfered and failed to play an oversight role.
OFM News previously reported that more then R220 million earmarked to assist upcoming farmers in Vrede was looted from the province through the project. Meanwhile, Mkhwebane and Gcaleka are expected to release their first 2021/22 investigation reports at 13:00.
