Last day to nominate #Election candidates─── 07:44 Mon, 23 Aug 2021
Political parties and independent candidates intending to contest the municipal elections have until 17:00 on Monday to submit their nominations.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says 25 political parties and 50 independent candidates have submitted their details.
Those who fail to submit all the requirements will be disqualified.
Elections are scheduled to be held in October, but the commission is seeking to postpone the elections to 2022.
On Friday, the IEC, political parties as well civil rights groups made representations before the Constitutional Court.
The apex court has reserved judgment in the matter.
