Ramaphosa declares 1 November a public holiday | News Article

President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared the date for the local government election a public holiday.

The polls will be held on Monday 1 November.

The President is asking employers to allow their workers to exercise their Constitutional right to vote.

He is also calling on all registered voters to use the opportunity to go out and cast their ballots.

Ramaphosa says voting empowers citizens to elect new leaders and influence service delivery. South Africans will only be able to cast their votes at the polling stations in the wards where they are registered.

Ramaphosa's reminded citizens to adhere to Covid-19 regulations when voting.
